In a surprising collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.

The questline concentrates on "strange trials and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an unique katana together with numerous items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Collaborations

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
